Soft Summer is muted and mostly cool, sitting between Soft Autumn and Cool Summer on the Seasonal Color Wheel. If you are a Soft Summer, then you thrive in muted, 75% cool colors like dusty rose or soft, powder blue. Your sister season is also Soft Autumn, though some of those colors may be a bit to warm for you.
If you fall into this color season, then you will of course have a cool skin tone, and your skin can be light or dark—the important thing is that you have muted coloring and little contrast. That means that your hair is a similar color to your skin. It can, of course, be a few shades off, but the main thing is low contrast. When your colors are muted and soft, you can finally shine as the star you are!
Knowing your best colors will help you streamline your shopping, trim down your closet to your absolute favorite pieces, and save you from wasting time wondering why certain outfits don’t look as great on you as they did on your favorite celebrity. So, if you are a Soft Summer, look no further, help is on the way, dear! Let us walk you through this beautiful color palette and get ready to watch the compliments (and confidence) roll in!

With cool undertones and low-contrast features, Soft Summers favor colors that are also cool and muted. Your worst colors will overpower your natural features, and will either be too warm, too bright, or too dark. Once you embrace your Soft Summer color season, everything clicks. You’ll be throwing together outfits left and right, you’ll quit second-guessing your outfits, and the compliments will start piling up. Every day is your red carpet! It’s not because you’ve discovered the perfect brow gel, or whatever it is this month on the tiktok-gram, but because you’re working to enhance your already beautiful natural features instead of trying to work against them. We call that an absolute win over here.

If you are a Soft Summer, your eyes can be any color, blue, green, brown, but the important thing is that they fall within a similar color range as your skin and hair and are soft. (If you have eyes like Alexandra Daddario, this is not the season for you!) If you are a Soft Summer, you don’t have a dominant feature–your dominant trait is even coloring between your skin and hair.
Your skin can range from fair to dark, but will be on the cool side, meaning you can wear a light gold that’s not too yellow, but silver will always look better. Your hair can be blonde or brown, and can have an ashy tint or even soft blonde highlights–the most important thing is that your hair color is close to your skin color. When shopping for make up, remember that when you wear your best colors, you can wear less make up than usual, with similar results. It can take some trial and error to find the correct shade of foundation–unfortunately the makeup companies don’t often label their products as cool or warm. And of course, there’s nothing wrong with wearing more or less make up. But when you are working to enhance your already amazing natural features, then there’s just less work to do than if you were trying to create a look that completely harmonizes with your natural features.
If you are a Soft Summer looking for foundation, opt for satin finishes–not too shiny and not too matte. While we generally recommend that cooler skin tones stay away from bronzer, you have a cool skin tone but can handle a bit of warmth and a little bit of bronzer and contouring! For bronzer, stick to a pink-gold and for contouring, make sure that you choose a cool foundation color, a few shades darker than your normal foundation. One of the benefits of a color analysis is that wearing your best colors near your face is akin to a layer of foundation, so go in with less than you think you may need and build up from there–and because your defining feature is low contrast, be sure to blend blend blend! Any harsh lines will be very obvious on you because of your natural features.
For eye makeup, neutrals are your best friend, and you have plenty of grays, browns, and creams to choose from! You can also add in pinks, blues, or greens. When choosing eyeshadow, remember to lean cool.
Your best mascara and eyeliner is a soft gray instead of a black! If you’re feeling funky, you can experiment with purple or green or even blue shades of eyeliner.
For blush, refer to your full color palette for cool pink inspirations. The perfect shade will depend on the shade of your own skin. Soft pinks and even browns are a good place to start.
For lipsticks, you can try soft, cool pinks and muted plums, just remember that there are no hard and fast rules for naming make-up, so you will have to pull out your color card and compare the colors yourself to determine if the lipstick is in your palette.
For a dramatic look, opt for a muted berry and plum shades. Because your dominant feature is softness, make sure to blend all your makeup in very well. You want an ethereal level of blending.
For nail polish, you can pick a color straight from your palette! You can even choose from this full color palette here.

As you can see, these celebrities have low contrast between their skin, hair and eyes, and they also all have cool undertones. These celebrities look cohesive and put together in their Soft Summer colors. The cool, soft pinks on Dakota Johnson and Rachel McAdams don’t wash them out, instead they look radiant and glowing. Same for the gray on Bella Hadid and Jenifer Aniston. If you are a Soft Summer, you can trust that the same colors will look magnificent on you as well.

We can’t forget jewelry! Because your main attribute is muted and your second characteristic is 50% saturation- your jewelry should reflect that as well, to a degree. Avoid shiny and bright metals, instead, opt for brushed, matte, and satin metals.
Because you’re neutral-cool, you can do a light, not too yellow, gold, but platinum, and silver–specifically matte–would be much better.
When choosing stones, smooth stones when possible and stones that are in your color palette, like amethyst, soft quartz, or moonstones.
If you don’t already dress in your best colors and the idea of a whole wardrobe overhaul overwhelms you, you can book a Closet Review, a Shop With Me or even a Shop for Me package. But in the meantime, if you are excited to already start wearing your best colors, here are my three tips to get started!

You’ve pulled up Pinterest and seen one outfit after another that looks so far from how you dress. But don’t panic! Give yourself time to explore. Now that you know what colors suit you best, that information will never change or go out of style. You can sit on this new information until you’re ready to use it.
If you’re happy and confident in the wardrobe you have now, that’s amazing. You are not obligated to wear only your best colors all the time! If you want to treat your Best Colors like a secret weapon you pull out for weddings, job interviews, photoshoots, or first dates, that’s totally fine.
However, once you start raking in those compliments, it’s really difficult to go back to those colors that weren’t serving you well. Once you’re used to seeing your skin glowing in the mirror, it’s hard to go back to colors that deliver subpar results.
When you’re ready to lean deeper into your best colors and choose outfits that also actually work for your body shape and lifestyle, book a Closet Review , a Shop With Me or a Shop For Me session!
