Deep Winter is a 50% combination of cool and warm, intense depth, and a 50% balance of bright and muted. If you are a Deep winter, then you thrive in saturated, strong colors like royal purple, navy, and red. Also called Dark Winter, your color palette is dark and opulent–and deep, of course.
If you fall into this color season, then you will have a cool undertone that leans a bit warm as this season is 50% warm, as well as darker hair and a good amount of contrast. However, your skin tone can be light or dark—the important thing is that you have one dark feature (either your skin, youe eyes, or your hair) and that you have contrast (either between your skin and hair or between your skin and the whites of your teeth and eyes).
Knowing your best colors will help you streamline your shopping, trim down your closet to your absolute favorite pieces, and save you from wasting time wondering why certain outfits don’t look as great on you as they did on your favorite celebrity. So, if you are a Deep Winter, look no further, help is on the way! Let us walk you through this stunning color palette and get ready to watch the compliments (and confidence!) roll in.

With neutral undertones and high-contrast features, Deep Winters favor colors that are the perfect mix of warm and cool, deeply saturated, but not too muted or too bright. Your worst colors don’t honor your natural features, and will either be too warm, too light, or too muted or too bright.
Once you embrace your color season, everything clicks. You’ll be throwing together outfits left and right, you’ll quit second-guessing your outfits, and the compliments will start piling up. Every day is your red carpet! It’s not because you’ve discovered the perfect lip tint, or whatever it is this month on the tiktok-gram, but because you’re working to enhance your already beautiful natural features instead of trying to work against them. We call that a big brain move over here.
You can also pull from your sister season, Dark Autumn.

If you are a Deep Winter, your dominant feature is either really dark hair or really dark skin that contrasts with another one of your features, either your skin or the whites of your eyes. Your skin can range from extremely fair to extremely dark, and your eyes are either dark brown or black. And your hair will always be really dark as well.
You are moderately cool, as your Winter season is the closest to Autumn, but you’ll find your palette has a fair amount of range, with rich jewel tones and relaxed muted shades as well.

When shopping for make up, remember that when you wear your best colors, you can wear less make up than usual, with similar results. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with wearing more or less make up. But when you are working to enhance your already amazing natural features, then there’s just less work to do with make up than if you’re trying to go against your natural beauty.
For Deep Winters, your makeup can be dark and intense and still look natural because your natural features are also dark and intense. Opt for smooth and silky foundation, not too matte or too shiny. Avoid bronzer, as it can be too warm for your complexion. Instead, opt for a pink-based contour or skip it all together and go straight to blush! One of the benefits of a color analysis is that wearing your best colors near your face is akin to a layer of foundation.
For eye make up, your neutrals would be taupe and gray, but you can also opt for a fun purple, green, or blue from your palette. When choosing eyeshadow, remember to lean cool. Never reach for a gold or bronze, instead opt for silver or gray when you want some glamour. Trust us, this makes all the difference.
Your best look is going to toe the line between matte and glittery–moderation either way is key. Traditional black mascara and heavy smokey eyes are totally fine for you. Your features can handle it!
For blush, refer to your full color palette for cool pink inspirations. The perfect shade will depend on the shade of your own skin. Roses, plums, berries, mauves, and orchids are good places to start looking. Just remember that there are no hard and fast rules for naming make-up, so you will have to pull out your color card and compare the colors yourself to decide if the lipstick is cool or warm. Just remember, not too matte and not too shiny!
For nail polish, you can pick a color straight from your palette! You can even choose from this full color palette here.

As you can see, these celebrities have high contrast between their skin, hair and eyes, and they also all have cool undertones. These celebrities look cohesive and put together in their Deep Winter Palette. The intense red on Salma Hayek and Rose Byrne doesn’t overpower them, and notice how the red isn’t the burn-your-eyes-firetruck red of Bright Winter—it’s perfectly balanced between bright and muted. Even the green on Lea Michele and the blue on Lana Parilla falls into the same category of not too bright and not too muted.
Notice, too, how the white and black on Jodie Turner-Smith, Nina Dobrev, and Taraji P. Henson are medium contrast patterns. Notice the royal red of Kit Harington’s tie and Keanu Reeves’ shirt. If you are a Deep Winter, you can trust that the same colors will look magnificent on you as well.

We can’t forget jewelry! Because your main attribute is dark, your jewelry should reflect that as well, to a degree. Opt for a silver, white gold, titanium, palladium, or even platinum because of your cool coloring–though you could get away with a deep gold if you wanted.. Stay away from “antique” or “earthy” looking pieces, as well as golds that are too yellow.. When choosing stones, opt for angled or faced cuts with lots of shine over smooth pieces. Rubies, garnets, emeralds, and sapphires are all amazing stones for your palette.
If you don’t already dress in your best colors and the idea of a whole wardrobe overhaul overwhelms you, you can book a Closet Review or a Shop With Me package. But in the meantime, if you are excited to start wearing your best colors, here are my three tips to get a handle on your wardrobe.

You’ve pulled up Pinterest and seen one outfit after another that looks so far from how you dress. But don’t panic! Give yourself time to explore. Now that you know what colors suit you best, that information will never change or go out of style. You can sit on this new information until you’re ready to use it.
If you’re happy and confident in the wardrobe you have now, that’s amazing. You are not obligated to wear only your best colors all the time! If you want to treat your Best Colors like a secret weapon you pull out for weddings, job interviews, photoshoots, or first dates, that’s totally fine!
However, once you start raking in those compliments, it’s really difficult to go back to those colors that weren’t serving you well. Once you’re used to seeing your skin glowing in the mirror, it’s hard to go back to colors that deliver subpar results.
When you’re ready to lean deeper into your best colors and choose outfits that also work for your body shape and lifestyle, book a Closet Review or a Shop With Me.
